Gilda's Club Kentuckiana has gone over the top for my family, so I'm going OVER THE EDGE for them!
Hello and welcome to my 2021 Gilda’s Club Kentuckiana ‘Over the Edge’ fundraising event page. As I am writing this in the lobby at Baptist Health, my high school sweet heart and wife of 14 years is undergoing surgery to remove what has caused sadness, pain, fear and uncertainty within my home over the past 8 months. When my wife and I learned what would become a new chapter in our lives, little did we know that we would come into contact with such a vibrant community of support. That community was the Gilda’s Club of Kentuckiana.
Gilda’s Club Kentuckiana’s (GCK) mission is to change lives through community-based social and emotional oncology support. Gilda’s Club offers free social and emotional support to men, women, teens, and children who live with cancer.
My family has witnessed first–hand this mission in action. From counseling services for my 9 year old son, to support groups for my wife and I, to hand-delivered bags of Halloween treats my 4 year old daughter refuses to share, GCK has played an integral role in helping us get through the “rough times” and live a little more each day!
With that said, I have a request. Help me reach the roof of the Hyatt Regency in downtown Louisville and rappel 236-ft to the ground. No, really! But I need your help to reach the top of this 18-story building. I am not only pledging to go Over The Edge, but I am also committing to raise at least $1,000 for Gilda’s Club.
To reach the top, I am seeking 18 “Floor Sponsors” to pledge at least $55 per floor. However, any amount you choose donate will help me reach this goal and support an amazing non-profit organization. Over The Edge has raised over $70 million for non-profits around the world and all donations are tax deductible.
If I reach my goal, I will dedicate this rappel on May 21 to my wife who is on her journey to cancer recovery and my aunt Marilyn. Thank you in advance for ensuring no one faces cancer alone and helping me to go OVER THE EDGE!
