UPDATE: The mother/daughter fundraising duo is back! If we can raise at least $2000 for this event, my mother, Taylor Deibel (who is very afraid of heights) will be going Over the Edge with me to help ensure no one faces cancer alone! Cancer not only affects the patients, but also rocks their family's world. My mom was my rock when I went through treatment. Together we had our good cancer days of movie nights, going out when my immune system would allow and our bad cancer days where she was there to wipe my tears, clean up my throw up and comfort me when I was scared and in pain. This is why we fight for cancer awareness and support amazing cancer organizations like Gilda's. Until there is a cure, we will continue our efforts!
Hi Everyone,
I am so excited to participate in the Over the Edge event to raise money for Gilda's Club. In 2001, at the young age of 12, my life was forever changed when I heard the words, "You have Leukemia. I went through 2 1/2 years of treatment where I endured many hospitalizations, chemo treatments, shots, pills, countless needle pokes and the loss of my hair. Gilda's was not around yet when I was diagnosed, but I am so glad to have found it and be apart of it now. My cancer diagnosis and the years that followed greatly shaped me into the person I am today. I still continue to deal with the after effects of my chemo and will endure these for the rest of my life. I am proud to stay that this year I am 19 years cancer free! Organizations like Gilda's Club give such great support to not only patients going through chemotherapy, but also their families. I am honored that I have recently been able to start doing some contract professional work in the therapy realm at Gilda's Club. Help me support Gilda's and all of the cancer patients who get so much out of this great organization.
