On November 13, 2019, three months after I had started grad school, cancer became a part of my life. After the discovery of an 8.5x5cm tumor in my lung and a diagnosis of a rare type of slow-growing lymphoma, I went on a 3-year rollercoaster ride of biopsies, failed treatments, CT scans, radiation, sooooo many needle sticks, immunotherapy, negative reports, surgeries and trips to Houston for MD Anderson. Throughout all of that, Gilda's was there to provide support, community, understanding, a shoulder to cry on and joy for both Julian and me. Their FREE services have been incredible. From Tuesday wellness groups with dinner provided, to family art sessions with the wonderful Laura, to immunotherapy information sessions, to Mother's Day brunch to Halloween parties and movies, Julian and I have been wrapped in love. I'm so happy that I can take this opportunity to give back to them. Please help me make sure that anyone who needs these services will have access to them in the future.
