Hiya, friends! Thanksgiving week of 2021, my mama read my MyChart results to me ... Stage 3 Triple Negative Breast Cancer. I was 34, had no family history, and no gene. Not unlike others who have had to hear those three words -- "you have cancer" -- my world was turned upside down. Much like family, Gilda's Club wrapped me in love. Throughout my cancer journey, you could find me at Gilda's on Tuesday nights breaking bread and participating in therapy sessions with folks walking a similar journey as me. In addition to connecting me with others that could truly understand my experience, Gilda's supported my family with game nights, special spouse events/suppers, crafting, soft exercise options, other inclusive events and more, all of which enabled me to feel hopeful and 'alive' at a time when even just holding my head up was a significant task. Now, as cancer becomes a chapter of the past in my book, I want to acknowledge Gilda's SIGNIFICANT work that, in my view, has contributed to my being here today. Join me in helping support the great work of Gilda's, and help me "over the edge" on May 13!
