Two things I am not...#1 a daredevil and #2 good at asking for money. But I’m about to be/do both because I know my Mom would if she were here.
Before she passed away in 2008 with ovarian cancer, my Mom discovered Gilda’s Club and was one of the very first members. In fact, I think we all went on a hard hat tour with her at her insistence before they even finished construction! She absolutely LOVED Gilda’s Club. Having a special place to go for people like her living with cancer and all the big emotions it brings, where she could take Qi-gong and cooking classes, attend fun events with Erin or I, her grandkids, or her husband to create memories together, or just to go hang out in a cozy and peaceful place for a few, and all completely free, was priceless. It was a bright spot during a scary and often dark time. I will forever be grateful for the joy Gilda’s brought her.
I want Gilda’s Club of Kentuckiana to continue to be a refuge for those living with cancer the same way it was for my Mom and our family. So, I’ve agreed to live a little and participate in her memory in GCK'S Over The Edge challenge to rappel down the 18-story Hyatt in Louisville on May 20th. I need to raise at least $1,000 and I need your help…and your prayers for my safe arrival from the rooftop to solid ground on the 20th! If you can give a few bucks it would mean the world to me. If you can’t, prayers are free and just as appreciated!
