There are scarier things than rappelling down a 234-foot building. Things like getting a cancer diagnosis.

This time last year I had a breast cancer diagnosis, surgery and all the recovery that would follow. My kids and friends rallied around me and lifted me. Safely held me, really, until I could start to right myself again. I am forever grateful for that love. Kindness is immeasurable. I look back with grace at ALL the things - digging through healing, allowing myself to go #overtheedge for Gilda's Club Kentuckiana, flying to Nova Scotia to kayak with Cooper at Bay of Fundy, the highest tide in the world, watching humpback whales caress and nudge the side of a lobster boat, paddling summer lakes with friends, finding yet more happiness, more purpose.  Getting lost again and again. And getting found. And sometimes you have to do both. Becoming a cancer survivor is no small feat.

There is no certainty or permanence to any of this bountiful trip. We will carefully orchestrate our edges and ledges, strategically protect ourselves with harnesses and ropes. Think we are safe and sound. Realize we must sometimes let go in order to grab hold. I wouldn't trade any of 2022 for what is my life today.
